DESIRE AND SEXUAL FANTASY

Desire and sexual fantasy. According to the medical expert on sexuality, Fernando Serrano “although both belong to the same erotic imaginary of the human being, they are different in nature, but can nurture each other. In general, most fantasies will be just that, idealistic thoughts that are created to never be realised. Although this is not always true, many times we fantasise so much about something that we end up transforming it into desire, and finally we carry it out. “

To explain the difference between desire and sexual fantasy I will give you the example of appetite. In the same way that sometimes the sensation of appetite and the evocation of the dish that a person would like to eat are intermingled, libido can be combined in images on how to obtain sexual gratification.

However, although a fantasy could be considered as a fictitious evocation in anticipation of a real situation, this statement is not always correct. When we have a fantasy, we know that something moves us inside and is in accordance with our morals and our way of understanding our world. When we have a fantasy, we ask ourselves if we would like to carry it out and our answer is yes. From that moment on, we can perform an action, a gesture, that leads us to the object of desire.

Fantasy can turn into desire. Desire is more than fantasy. The main difference between desire and sexual fantasy is that fantasy stays in our thoughts, nothing in our head and encourages our creative mind. While desire moves us to take action.

DESIRE AND SEXUAL FANTASY BENEFITS

Contrary to what religion has tried to inculcate and impose on the minds of its followers, under sin and the feeling of guilt, several authors point out the many functions that sexual fantasies fulfil in the psychological balance of people, including generate or enhance arousal, produce arousal without risk, relief from anxiety or guilt, and involve a controlled rehearsal of a situation that is eagerly awaited.

Another difference between desire and sexual fantasy is that the last ones the fantasies are intimate, they do not imply infidelity . However, we must not forget that they can activate the desire. Sexual fantasy is therefore a totally healthy behaviour and necessary in the development and health of a person. It is characterised by imagination, creativity and the sporadic and pleasant character that characterise and define them.

Its cognitive function, during adolescence, is to serve as a rehearsal and imagine performing sexual actions that have not yet passed; helping to channel their future love relationships. In the case of adults, the use of the sexual imagination is very varied; increase excitement and turn the current situation into a more passionate one.

In addition, it increases both the physiological and psychological aspects of the sexual response, counteracting boredom, focusing thoughts and feelings, as a way of mindfulness. They also promote a safe environment to let go of the imagination and for sexual feelings to emerge strongly. They are safe because they are private and fictitious, which will ensure that they are not discovered by other people, while your imaginative part will release them from responsibility allowing each person to use them at will.
